Period Hats: Simple Trims, Blocking Felt and Straw Hats and Finishing Techniques

Jennielynn Streed of Temple University teaches how to embellish a period hat with inexpensive contemporary materials. This program is limited to 20 participants.

Quaker Hat Fashion in Philadelphia
Saturday, June 11, 2005, 2-3 PM
Winterthur graduate student Emily Cline discusses the fascinating history behind Quaker fashion and explores the symbolic meaning and aesthetics of the Quaker bonnet. View bonnet styles from the Friends Historical Association Collection, now housed at AKMP.

programs are free with museum admission: $5, adults; $3, seniors 65+ and ages 13-17; Free for AKMP members and children 12 and under.
