Driving Directions
Philadelphia History Museum is located at 15 South Seventh Street, one block from Independence Hall, just around the corner from the Liberty Bell and one block from the Independence Visitor Center.

From Philadelphia International Airport and points south
At I-95 North, take Exit 22 (Center City Philadelphia/Independence Hall/Callowhill). Turn onto Callowhill and from the right lane follow to 6th Street. At 6th Street make a left and follow to Ranstead (1/2 block south of Market Street). At Ranstead make a right and go one block to 7th Street. The Philadelphia History Museum is mid-block on 7th Street.
From New York and points north

At the Ben Franklin Bridge follow signs to 6th Street (Independence Hall). At 6th Street make a left and follow to Ranstead (1/2 block south of Market Street). At Ranstead make a right and go one block to 7th Street. The Philadelphia History Museum is mid-block on 7th Street.
From Western Pennsylvania
Follow I-76 to 8th Street Exit (Ben Franklin Bridge). Turn right onto 8th Street. At the first light turn left onto Race Street. Turn right onto 6th Street and follow to Ranstead (1/2 block south of Market Street). At Ranstead make a right and go one block to 7th Street. The Philadelphia History Museum is mid-block on 7th Street.
Parking
There are metered parking spots in the area surrounding the Museum. Paid parking garages and lots are also available along Seventh Street, between Market and Chestnut. Discounted parking for Members ($5) is available at One Independence Garage (enter on 7th just after Chestnut). Must show Member card for discount.
SEPTA
Public buses, along with city and regional rail, are an easy, convenient way to visit the Philadelphia History Museum. Visit the SEPTA Web site to plan your trip to the Museum.
Buses
Bus Line #47 stops just steps in front on the Museum at the corner of 7th Street and Market Street. In addition, Line #s 17, 33, 44, 48 and 62 all make stops on 8th Street and Market Street.
Market-Frankford line (The El/ Blue Line)
The Philadelphia History Museum is also easily accessible via the Market-Frankford El subway line. Exit at 8th Street station onto Market Street. Walk east and make a right onto 7th Street. The Museum is mid-block on the left.
Regional Rail
Trains run to Center City Philadelphia from across southeastern Pennsylvania. Exit train at Market East Station (The Gallery). Follow signs to Market Street. Go left on Market Street to 7th Street. Turn right on 7th Street. The Museum is mid-block on the left.
PATCO (New Jersey High Speedline)
PATCO is a convenient way to visit the Museum from points in New Jersey. Exit at 8th and Market Station (The first exit in Philadelphia). Walk east on Market Street and make a right onto 7th Street. The Museum is mid-block on the left.
Accessibility
Handicap accessibility to the Museum is found in the rear of the building on Ranstead Street. Enter the Museum garden and ring the bell placed next to the double doors. Call ahead of arrival for ease of entrance: 215.685.4830. Once inside there is an amply-sized elevator that can be used to gain entry to each floor.
