Philadelphia-native, designer, and author Lawrence O’Toole will speak at the Philadelphia History Museum, Thursday, May 16, 2013, about Philadelphia’s historically significant hand-painted outdoor signage dating from the late-1800s to the 1960s. Fading Ads of Philadelphia, is part of the History Museum’s popular Conversations series. The program will beginat 5:00 p.m. at the Philadelphia History Museum, 15 South 7th Street, Philadelphia.

Charlene Mires, associate professor of History at Rutgers-Camden and co-recipient of the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism, will discuss her newly published book, Capital of the World, in a public program presented jointly by the Philadelphia History Museum, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia. The program, Capital of the World: Philadelphia’s Race to Host the United Nations, is part of the History Museum’s popular and engaging Conversations series. The program will take place on April 3, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.
