The Philadelphia History Museum is proud to participate in the Blue Star Museums initiative for the summer of 2013. The Museum joins over 1,800 national organizations by offering free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day, May 27, through Labor Day, September 2, 2013.

 In celebration of Philly Beer Week 2013, the Philadelphia History Museum will hold Conversations: Breweriana, Collecting Beer Memorabilia, on Saturday June 8, from 2:00-5:00 p.m., with noted collectors Larry Handy and Dale Van Wieren. The presentation will be followed by a live demonstration of colonial home brewing in the Museum’s Marian Mitchell Garden by Rich Wagner, author of the book Philadelphia Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in the Cradle of Liberty.

Philadelphia-native, designer, and author Lawrence O’Toole will speak at the Philadelphia History Museum, Thursday, May 16, 2013, about Philadelphia’s historically significant hand-painted outdoor signage dating from the late-1800s to the 1960s. Fading Ads of Philadelphia, is part of the History Museum’s popular Conversations series. The program will beginat 5:00 p.m. at the Philadelphia History Museum, 15 South 7th Street, Philadelphia.
